Fantastic! Congratulations! As I suggested in another post, I hope Canary Publishing will also consider genre fiction (science fiction, fantasy, horror, mystery) from Jewish writers and with Jewish themes. Genre writers have been suffering overt and covert discrimination, and it is only getting worse. I was shocked to hear from I writer I know that he deliberately downplayed or obscured Jewish themes in his fantasy novel in order to find a publisher, despite the fact that they are central to his concept.
I am not ready to be published yet. I have a project I'm working on with a pair of Jewish twins as the leads. The genre would be urban fantasy. Writers block has been a struggle for months, unfortunately. I'm coming into this with the expectation of self publishing because I don't expect most publishers to consider my writing because it is blatantly Jewish. I started it partially because I want Sukkot and Purim to be mentioned with the same direct-yet-casualness that Halloween and Christmas get mentioned in so much media. My current plan for this project is to release it chapter by chapter here (trying to time so that the Purim chapter/episode is released in time for Purim).
If there becomes an opportunity for me to then go through an actual publishing house with this story, that'd be really amazing.
