Today is Publication Day for My Novel
'Found and Lost: The Jake and Cait Story' is about music, faith, fame, and the passage of time.
A few years ago, I was listening to music on my headphones while training to run a half-marathon, when I was hit with an idea for a novel. It was simple enough. What if a song recorded forty years ago accidentally went viral today, forcing reluctant middle-aged musicians into the spotlight? I was so excited about the plot that I ran home, told my wife I was writing a novel, and spent the next four or five months working on it every day.
The result was Found and Lost: The Jake and Cait Story, which is being released today by my awesome publisher, Vine Leaves Press. There are many ways you can buy it, but I get more of the profits if you order directly from my publisher. You can also purchase the ebook or paperback from Amazon.
The novel follows Jake Rosner and Caitlin Doyle, two musicians who had a brief but intense partnership as teenagers in 1985. Decades later, when their song resurfaces and captures the imagination of a new generation, they are forced to confront the lives they built separately—and the one they abandoned. The story moves between their youthful romance and ambition, and their complicated middle-aged selves, weaving together themes of music, faith, fame, and the passage of time.
At its heart, Found and Lost: The Jake and Cait Story explores the tension between past and present, fame and obscurity, faith and doubt. Jake is Jewish, while Cait is a devout Christian. Their interfaith bond plays a central role in how they rediscover not only each other but who they’ve become.
You can read more about the book—and hear me talk about its inspiration—on Interlochen Public Radio. An excerpt is also up at Oldster Magazine.
If you enjoy the book, please consider leaving a review on Amazon or Goodreads. Reviews help more than you know.
I know that many of you follow me for my Jewish commentary, so you may be pleased to know that I’m well into writing my next book, which will be about fighting antisemitism. Stay tuned for more news on that. Thank you all for your support!
