If we don't take back our voices, distorted anti-Zionist #AsAJew doppelgangers will speak for us, perpetuating narratives that misrepresent our true identities and experiences.
What is astonishing, or perhaps not, is the number of educated people with very strong views and virtually no knowledge of the history or details of the conflict.
I got nervous when I first started to read but felt "Yes!" as I read on. I feel like the hatred directed towards Jews seems only to be clearly visible if you wear Jewish eclipse glasses. You already know anything else I'd say, but we need your book more than ever. We need to get beyond broken and angry to something that is powerful, positive, and helps fix a broken world. But right now I'm stuck at angry.
Well thank you. Seriously if you’re a Jew you’re either wandering around like some deracinated victim or you’re a Zionist. These non Zionist Jews just don’t want to give up their social life. The quiet Jews don’t want to give up their economic life.
One last comment-people who equate the Gaza support sit-ins to the 60's-70's have a very superficial understanding of the 60's-70's, at best. We were protesting the draft and our government's foreign policy. We wanted democracy to "win" but never chanted death to the North Vietnamese people, or to push them in the sea. or anything equivalent to "Globalize the Intifada."
Yes. I am, myself, writing about my radical student past. I started out contrasting to the 2020 zeitgeist and events. Adding the current run of antisemitic and hate-filled anti-Israel to the picture overwhelms me frankly. But the contrast you bring up is stark.
Thank you so much for writing this. As a young Jewish/Zionist author, I’ve been astounded by how much I get turned away before anyone even reads my work. I recently finished a collection of poetry about October 7th and everything since, and I have no idea where to go to try to get it published.
Thank you for your comment, Ted, and I'm sorry you're having a hard time. The solution is to keep writing! Don't let them silence you. Your voice will be heard eventually.
I was thinking of starting up a Jewish mostly frum literary magazine, (website, annual book, etc) and when u was thinking of it I wanted to call it ansky ,(I mean I did name dybbuk press after his play)
But now I'm thinking it'd be better titled zionist thugs.
(With caveat that Vanessa redgrave is not nearly as hostile as she was in the 70s)

Thank you, Evy. I'm writing as fast as I can!
You know that story; a Zionist and an anti Zionist walk into a bar and the bartender says we don’t serve jews
Believe it or not, that "joke" was originally mine! I posted it on Twitter years ago, and it caught on!

Exactly. Spot on.
